Meet Our Entourage…
-BRIDESMAIDS-
Huong Tran Quy
Loan and Huong first met at a church youth group called Children of Fatima in Torrance, California, 25 years ago. They became inseparable after Loan moved to the same middle school Huong was going to. They bonded over their shared love of good food and Chinese dramas. After spending 6 years together, sharing many classes together from junior high to high school, it’s safe to say Huong knows Loan better than anyone. We love Loan for her huge heart, cheeky sense of humor, and ability to find the funny side of every situation.
Maria Nguyen
Some of you may not know, but Loan and Alex’s love story started in the hands of this young and beautiful darling. Many of Loan’s friends tried to play matchmaker, yet it was Maria who succeeded on her first attempt! Loan and Alex wish to return the favor. So heads up all single gents out there, Maria is single!

Loan is like an older sister to me. We’ve known each other since our teenage years. My husband, Jimmy Tiano, is also Loan’s good buddy. On Loan and Alex’s first date, I showed up with my pregnant belly!

Loan and I go way, way back from the good old days of high school to those long hard nights in professional school. Through it all, we prevailed. She was the best roommate anyone could have asked for. She was my rock and my home during the long winter years in Omaha. I treasure all the memories we have together. Loan, I will always be there for you like you have always been there for me.

Loan and I first met at UCLA and we instantly hit it off — bonding over late night study sessions, Korean dramas, Asian foods, and meaningful conversations about what our futures may hold. During our decades plus friendship, we've been college roommates, coworkers, and endured a 24-hr nonstop road-trip from Los Angeles to Omaha, Nebraska. I can count on Loan as one of my nearest and dearest friends. We love Loan for her infectious laugh that warms your heart, her generous heart and soul, and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate her love on her wedding day.
Phuong To
Loan and I met in the 7th grade. Back then she was more of a tomboy and I never saw her wear a dress. Loan is one of the most genuine and kind person I’ve ever known. Although we were together for about 1 year, we kept in touch all these years and she has always been there for me. I’m fortunate to have this 26-year friendship! The best of wishes as she is about to start new journey, hand in hand, with her forever friend. I’m very excited and happy for them.
Ida Rae Zapanta
Ida is Loan’s soon to be sister-in-law! They first met at Alex’s birthday party in Long Beach 3 years ago. As brothers and sisters do, Ida and Alex were practicing a little Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Alex had Ida in a standing Guillotine Choke hold and Loan ran over to come to Ida’s rescue by hitting Alex repeatedly and yelling at him to Stop! Ida knew right away that Loan was a sweet and caring soul. She is so excited to have her as a sister and incredibly grateful that Alex has found such an amazing partner.
Ida has lived in New York and San Francisco but plans to relocate with her husband, Pierre, to Los Angeles by the end of this year. Ida is very much looking forward to being closer to Loan so they can spend more time with each other.
Mai Nguyen
I’ve known Loan since we were freshman in high school. I moved from Lakewood to Torrance for high school and didn’t have any friends at the new school at that time. Loan and the girls welcomed me into their group and made me feel at home. Loan is a very down to earth and caring person and is always there for me when I need her. She used to be my partner in crime! We took road trips to Arizona and spent our summers lounging at the pools in Irvine. I remembered when I needed to move back from Hawaii and my family couldn’t come and help me, Loan flew over and helped me move home. When I applied for pharmacy schools and didn’t get in, Loan was there to proof read my essays and encourage me to apply again. She also made a good drinking buddy! We used to take shots together all the time in college. Loan is a truly loving and genuine person who is just like a sister to me and I’m proud to be her bridesmaid. I wish Loan and Alex all the best in life.

Well, the first time I met Loan was when my husband, Danny, introduced me to his family. She seemed young, cute and innocent at the time. But, as I got to know her more, I realized that she is an extremely hard working person and I am so proud that she has got to where she is at now. She’s finally getting married!
-GROOMSMEN-
Fabian Tuason
Fabian and Alex's broship started at LOYOLA MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY, where Fabian was a transfer student from a JC and Alex was an established President of a Fraternity. They saw each other in passing during some parties and had a Vertebrate Field Bio class together where they had a good time learning and being cool colleagues. They had a good rapport with each other prior to the summer of 2000. Alex had asked Fabian to be his roommate for the DORM ROOM LOTTERY since he felt that Fabian's Midichlorian count was adequate. Boy, was Alex off on his reading because during that process, Fabian was able to sense that they would be roommates for that senior year and even let Alex know of the outcome with only two spots left. Neither could have known that Fabian would still be his roommate to this day (Hahahaha). However, Fabian does see a brighter future for Alex in that he is about to wed a spectacular individual in Loan whose Midichlorian count is so great that lives are changed for the better. Love ya bro and I am honored to be part of your groomsmen party.

I am a Taurus; I practice brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and occasionally do bikram yoga; I am obsessed with Game of Thrones, thai food, and the color orange; I invest in stocks and Kickstarter campaigns; and most importantly (kind of kidding but not really), I am an aspiring trophy husband who plans to own a corgi and drive a Prius. I am Loan's cousin.
Pierre Bornot
Pierre is Alex’s brother-in-law. They first met in Las Vegas 5 years ago when Ida, Alex’s sister brought Pierre ‘home’ to meet the family. Alex was very warm and welcoming from the start, making Pierre feel comfortable and as if he were a part of the family. They bonded even more when Loan and Alex traveled to France in 2016 to be a part of Ida and Pierre’s wedding festivities. Pierre currently resides with Ida in San Francisco and enjoys boxing, craft cocktail-making, and dining out with his better half.

I first met Alex in our freshmen year at LMU in the Rosecrans freshman dorm. He must have weighed about 99 pounds soaking wet and always had to use crutches. His roommate at that time, came into my room and pissed on our floor while I was gone for the weekend. Needless to say, his roommate, after he sobered up, scrubbed every inch of our room. To my shock, I didn't know the carpet wasn't brown, but green.
This will be the ongoing theme for the next four years of our lives. Someone always drunk and something always breaking...we got close our sophomore year and became best friends and more importantly best drinking buddies. After we graduated, we both ended up in high finance - Alex on the sales side and me on the buy side. Still kicking butt and never settling for second best. We have now both moved on to working from home in our underwear and gaining copious amounts of weight. Life is good...

Alex & I met in our early fraternity days (him at LMU, me at Long Beach State). We both grew within our chapters, eventually becoming presidents at the same time. I always joked that Alex ran LMU with an iron fist and a gentlemen's smile. Truth be told, he's just a great guy, a friend to all, willing to help anyone at any time. Alex has always been there for me in good and bad times. He is my brother.
Mark Zapanta
Alex is my cousin and we met when we were really young. Most of my greatest memories with Alex are his dares and awesome ideas that he showed me growing up. Some are: breathing under water, jumping over a cactus, being his caddie, and many more. Alex is an awesome guy all around and I am blessed to be his cousin.

I first met Alex at Loyola Marymount University. During our freshmen year, we had Bio 101 together, and we sat at the back of that class nearby each other. By the end of the freshmen year, we kind of got to know each other through social events. We did not truly get to know each other until I was invited to be a part of Zeta Phi Rho, in which Alex was one of the founding fathers. Through the fraternity meetings and social events, we became good friends. We became roommates for a number of years at different locations in and around LMU, like Loyola Apartments, Intercultural House (ICH), Emerson Apartments, and Manchester Apartments. He even let me couch surf at his apartment on the weekends at his Playa Del Rey apartment. God bless Alex for putting up with me because I know there were times where I annoyed him and got in his personal space, but he was always kind and patient with me.
My favorite memory of Alex was at the ICH. I was the first one to wake up that morning, and I woke up to the smell of something burning. I started walking from my room to the kitchen. When I got to the kitchen, I saw that there was something burning on the stove. I turned off the stove, I looked up, and I saw ramen noodles on the ceiling. I was like, “What the..?” I saw Alex fast asleep on the couch in the family room. I woke him up and said, “Alex, were you cooking ramen last night?” Alex was like, “Oh,….” At night, Alex would stay up late, and his go-to late night snack was ramen that he would cook every night. He had one of those nights where he fell fast asleep and, somehow he forgot about his noodles, and the noodles ended up on the ceiling. How did the smoke alarm did not go off and the house did not catch on fire? I don’t know. But I love that story because it makes me laugh til this day. Truly, had to be there!
Through the years since college, Alex became one of my best friends. I have had friends come-and-go growing up, so using the words “best friend” is a strong word that I rarely use. But our LMU crew got really close and became really great friends. Alex is one that I can truly call my best friend. God bless Alex and Loan! I am so happy for them and excited for their married years together.

The year was 1996 and the place was Rosecrans residence hall at Loyola Marymount University. I was a young man always representing the Bay Area and Alex was the guy that lived downstairs that didn’t talk much, was kind of intimidating at first (I later realized it was all show!), but generally seemed pretty cool. Over the following four years, Alex and I managed to go on many adventures, explore most of Southern California (or so it seemed), and even managed to get in a little trouble. Not that much trouble, we were good kids (for the most part!).
I remember the road trips to San Diego, Central California, and everywhere in between. While Alex seemed a little tough to crack initially (and my bigger than normal personality probably didn’t help much), I quickly got a sense for his smarts, his wit, and his loyalty. Now more than 23 years later, my sense was spot on. Alex is one of the most loyal friends I have. He has always had my back and never hesitated to come to my aid if I needed. We’ve celebrated every birthday together for the past 21 years and despite busy work schedules, and sometimes many thousands of miles between us, I know I can count on him no matter what and vice versa. He’s my homie for life and I’m so honored to also be one his groomsmen on the day he marries his incredible fiancé Loan. Get ready for wedding day as I know there are many more stories to tell! Congratulations!

Azap and I met over 20 years ago, which is the case for most of the other groomsmen as well. Our time together started with Zeta Phi Rho (our fraternity) and then transitioned to a ton of time around the 3 B's - BBQ, basketball, and booze. Now even though his basketball game and drinking capacity are mediocre (he's probably shaking his head already), I will admit that his hospitality and cooking made many of us that were far from home feel right at home. If you've been over to his place, you know what I'm talking about.
After moving back to San Francisco, I'd link up with Alex whenever I made trips down to LA or if he made his way up to the Bay. On one trip to SF, I met up with Alex in the lobby of his hotel and he mentioned that his girlfriend was upstairs. Wait...girlfriend? I'd been texting with my bro for the past couple of hours and in no text was there mention of said girlfriend. Hmmm…something was definitely up. We grabbed Loan from the room and then Alex somehow found an underground sushi bar with a DJ playing 90’s R&B. You sure you didn't plan this out Alex or did you really just happen to find this joint two minutes before leaving the hotel? Hahaha. It felt like we ate everything on their menu, drank like college kids, and laughed like nobody was watching all night. You could tell that Loan was special by how Alex interacted with her and by the way he talked about her. It was heartwarming to see him so happy.
Fast forward a bit and now we're here. I'm honored and blessed to share this special occasion with you, and I'm even more excited for all the stories and adventures that you'll create together in this next chapter. Much love to you both!
